Three ways to Infuse Creativity into Your Daily Life

We are often asked by participants in Bream and Sprat programs, “how do I infuse the creativity I feel in classes into my daily life?” We have some ideas for you!

Connect with your Five Senses

Part of being creative is being aware of the world around you. To do this, we recommend connecting with your five senses while being in nature or around your neighborhood. What do you see? What do you hear? What do you smell?

You can take this a step further by responding to what you sense. You could do a small dance in response to a smell. You could journal about what you hear or draw what you see.

Start with a Daily Action

Make the choice to do a creative act each day. Decide what time of day you will do this and how long you will spend. What you do is up to you!
You could make a single drawing each morning (and perhaps give yourself only 2 minutes to complete it). You could write a haiku each morning (check out Donte’s “Body Language: Haiku” for more ideas on this).

The most important part is to do this every day. Remain consistent and steadfast.

Look at Art

It is important to continually fill your inspirational cup with artwork by other artists. This could mean listening to music, watching an art film, or going to a museum.

If possible, it’s always inspiring to get together with a group and share your artworks with each other. Ask each other for feedback. “What do they see?” “What stands out to them?” “What do they imagine about your artwork?”

As these ideas inspire new ways to bring creativity into your life, share with us! We always like to see what you are working on that inspires you.
